Pindehuggergården

The heritage property of Pindehuggergården sits nestled in the countryside north of Copenhagen, surrounded by mature woodland. The design respects the existing character while adapting the landscape to modern family life.

The design strategy centers on the beautiful existing brickwork, preserved and celebrated as the foundation for all circulation. From here, the landscape unfolds through a series of carefully designed zones. Curved paving patterns create flowing movement through the property, while a mix of jetbrændt and kløvet brickwork establishes rhythm and guides the eye.

Along the house façade, planting beds in a playful modernist pattern complement the heritage architecture. These beds, combined with sculptural hedges and structural plantings, frame views toward the surrounding forests and create layered spaces of privacy and openness. Year-round color and texture come through a palette of evergreen structure, flowering shrubs, and ornamental grasses, designed to support local wildlife while maintaining the garden’s visual interest across seasons.

At the heart of the property, a central courtyard serves as the family’s outdoor room, offering multiple moments for gathering, play, and quiet reflection. The landscape weaves together improved access, thoughtful lighting, and generous lawns while honoring the property’s historic character.
