Kernen

Kirkebjerg Søpark is a mixed residential area with open blocks and terraced houses. The blocks are centred around their own courtyards, with different characters and identities.

Kernen is an activity house that acts as a cultural and social gathering point for the area, and is linked to the parking garage on building plot F – one of the area’s two parking garages.

The parking garage is constructed as a concrete shell, with a heavy facade composed of concrete walls and frames. The facade is further clad with metal slats that bolster the development of climbing plants.

The activity house is built as a Southern extension of the parking garage. The building houses a number of functions that support the development of a strong community. These functions include a theatre, a café and an exchange centre.
Moreover, the space will also house a co-working area on the first floor, where residents can rent an office space.

The facade of the building is open and allows for interaction and visual contact between the indoor and outdoor areas. The large facade sections are shielded from the sun with horizontal slats within a frame structure.
On site F, large parts of the roof surface are activated. Here, among other things, orangeries, utility gardens, roof terraces and a conservatory are designed. Please refer to the landscape project.
